Welcome to the online home of the Jeep in British service. We exist to research the use of the iconic American Jeep in British service and share information about it. At a time of great need in WW2, the jeep provided a service in every theatre of war and in such varied roles from carrying medics and the wounded, to towing artillery pieces, to carrying officers, General's and World Leaders. The list is almost endless. But for the Jeep, WW2 was just the first chapter in its history. The British armed forces received up to 80,000 jeeps under the lend lease programme, and many of those survived long into the post war years. Wherever the British armed forces went, the jeep was there helping them get the job done. This website is devoted to researching the history of these British jeeps, not just in WW2, but in their long service life in the postwar period too. |
