We aim to document the use of MB/GPW jeeps by the British military, during and after the Second World War, sharing information in order to identify unique modifications, assisting those restoring/maintaining their vehicle or researching its history. This group is managed by enthusiasts, it is non-profit. We do this for the love of the vehicles and the history which surrounds them.
Why the Jeep in British Service? Why do we do any of this? The three of us who run this group are all jeep owners who have a keen interest in their service with the British army. The Jeep is an all American icon, but that was only where it was built, and not where it was primarily used. The Jeep was one of the most important vehicles in the British armed forces in WW2 and the immediate postwar years. That history and usage is so often overlooked and rarely studied. We want to expand our knowledge on the subject, and help others to as well.
What can you do to help?
Knowledge is power! Any information that you have is useful. Period photos, stories from veterans, and information relating to the jeep in British service that you think we might not have encountered. If in doubt, throw information at us. It is better to risk doubling things up, than missing them. It costs money to run this site and to continually research the subject. We do not ask for money in anyway, but if you'd like to help, find previously unseen photo albums for us. They are really appreciated. Scans are fine, and if you do not have the ability to scan, you can post them to us, and we will scan and return them within two working days.
